Wroshyr Trees

Wroshyr Trees

Trees have always had a special relationship with people - we can even find this in our stories and our art - highlighting the wonderful option of becoming a tree when you die - even fictional trees, such as Wroshyr trees - seem to hold a special place in our hearts as humans as we grow our connection with nature

Wroshyr Trees

Wroshyr trees were trees that grew on the planet Kashyyyk, homeworld of the Wookiee species. The native Wookiees lived in homes built in the wroshyr trees of Kashyyyk, and many of their weapons were whittled from wroshyr wood.

Who were the Wookies?

The Wookiees were a species of tall, hairy humanoids that were native to the planet Kashyyyk. The most notable member of this species was the warrior ChewbaccaHan Solo's best friend and co-pilot, who played a vital role in the Galactic Civil War by aiding the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Galactic Empire. They were quite strong, and were known to rip people's arms out of their sockets when provoked. Though being from a temperate planet better known for its swamps and forests, their coat of hair allowed them to be comfortable on icy worlds such as Ilum and Hoth.

Following the reorganization of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, the Wookiee's homeworld of Kashyyyk was blockaded by the Empire. Many Wookiees were forced into slavery due to their strength, sent to be worked to death in the dangerous spice mines of the planet Kessel, or on construction sites such as the Death Star, though a number escaped this fate.

Wookiees had a long lifespan, appearing not to age over a span of fifty years. One Wookiee, Lohgarra, lived healthily for centuries—the only distinction being her white fur.  They could learn to understand other languages, like Basic, but they were physically unable to speak them. To those who had not learned to understand Shyriiwook, the Wookiee language, it appeared they spoke in a series of growls and purrs. Although rare, it was possible for Wookiees to be born Force-sensitive, like the Jedi YounglingGungi.

Most Wookiees carried bowcasters as weaponry, which were handcrafted.

The highest way a Wookiee could compliment someone was to groom them.

At The Living Urn, we believe in the profound importance of trees in creating a lasting legacy. Just as the Wroshyr trees were integral to the lives of the Wookiees, becoming a tree after death allows each of us to give back to the Earth, nourishing new life and providing comfort to future generations. By choosing a green burial and becoming a tree, you leave behind a symbol of strength, renewal, and hope for all who come after
